When Dad took Mum's Passport By Accident

I was 14 and about to embark on my first lads' holiday. My dad and I were going to cycle and camp around the Netherlands for two weeks. Dad was self-employed, so spending such a long time with just him was rare. 

We raced to the ferry terminal in Harwich to catch the early morning boat, pulled up at Border Control and handed our passports over. The guard looked back with shock "You appear to have taken your wife's passport". 

The first day of our holiday became a day indoors for me, and a day on trains for dad. Not only that, but we had to rebook our ferry at vast expense.
